Easter is just around the corner. This is certainly been the year we have done the most promotion of the Easter service, sending out thousands of invites to people in the community. If you live in the West Hartford area you may have already received one. There is a second, follow-up invite being sent out in the next week. If just a fraction of these people come to the service and if some of the non-regular Calvary attenders come and if some of the regular attenders bring friends or family we are going to have a LOT of people at our Easter service. God could really bless us with numbers on the 4th. As such, we have to be ready. As Bill says in his entry (Easter is not about us!), we as a staff are planning for 500 people to be present. Bill is spending extra time working on the message, Dave is spending extra time rehearsing the worship music with the band. Chip is working hard on publicity and other things in advance of the big day. It is my job to get the scheduling together.
In order to be ready for 500 people, we need to ramp up the numbers of volunteers in every ministry area for Easter Sunday. As a result, I am asking everyone who regularly serves to consider offering their services for Easter Sunday. This is our biggest evangelistic day of the year and we need to remember that ultimately we as a church want to see lives transformed. To do this, we have to be on our “A” game on Easter Sunday so that people can feel comfortable and welcome in our church and are able to listen to God’s word and worship. For this Sunday in particular we need to be willing to be sacrificial in our service and, in so doing, show Christ’s love to each and every visitor that joins us that day.
We could see exciting things happen on Easter Sunday – souls saved for Christ, new Christian families recently moved into the area discover our church, and lots more. If you have not served before then Easter would be a great opportunity to take the step to get involved - do prayerfully consider offering your services on Easter Sunday as a volunteer.
